Description
Grad Speaker Series – Jake Aronowitz
Abstract: Zebra finches (Taeniopygia guttata) are songbirds native to central Australia. Males learn a complex motor task – birdsong – from their father and subsequently perform their song with high rendition-to-rendition stability in courtship displays. HVC (proper name), a brain region necessary for song production, receives new neurons throughout the lifespan. My work seeks to understand the maturation of these neurons as they integrate into existing brain circuits and become active in song production.
